Tobacco and Alcohol in the Pacific Island Countries Trade Agreement: Impacts on Population Health.

In 2004-5 the Public Health Programme at SPC undertook research to look at the proposed inclusion of tobacco and alcohol into the PICTA. Tobacco and alcohol were excluded from PICTA for the first two years of the agreement.

A decision was due by the Forum Trade Ministers in April/May 2005 and this report was presented to the meeting of Trade Officials and Ministers. The decisions of the Forum Trade Ministers Meeting are available on the Forum website.
