Our Pacific island People

The current development situation in the Pacific region is challenging. The region's economies are generally weak and increasingly complex issues - including disease epidemics, rapid population growth and urbanisation, and globalisation - demand attention. The Social Resources Division attempts to provide a coordinated response to the development priorities identified by Pacific leaders.

In the Social Resources Division, four programmes exist: the human development programme, public health programme, the Regional Media Centre and the Statistics and Demography programme.
