|Short Courses and Electives|
There are short courses which are compulsory as well as electives. Short Courses available in modules are Basic Accounting for non-accountants, Basic Radio Broadcasting and Basic graphics, Basic Food Processing. Electives vary from year to year and include : Breads & Pastries, Tailoring, Stencils & Fabric Art, Microenterprise, Basic Hospitality, Art & Craft, Paper Making, Appropriate Technology. (Information on these courses can be obtained from CETC management)
Other topics may be coverd depending on demand and time and availability of resources and trainers.
Microenterprise coursePeople credited with this standard should be able to produce a simple financial plan, a business plan, and a marketing and production plan for a business project. The course is of 60 hours’ duration and carries 5 credits.
Basic Accounting course
People credited with this standard should be able to produce, understand and apply basic accounting concepts, know basic bookkeeping standards, understand elements of cash journals and produce a financial statement.
Those taking Basic Accounting must also take the Microenterprise or Non-accountants course. The course is of 30 hours’ duration and carries 3 credits.

People credited with this standard should be able to understand different methods of food handling, food preservation (cultural and contemporary) and the use of different additives — both natural and synthetic — food safety and food hygiene practices.
