Judgments of competence against each of the unit standards must meet tests of: Sufficiency of evidence, Validity, Repeatability, Fairness and Consistency. This has implication for a good recording and retrieval system which also serves moderation requirements of the program.

To date, a standard recording template for each student is kept by instructors on a course by course basis based on course assessment schedules and tasks. These are complemented by keeping a folder of student work portfolios, and other evidence (e.g. photographs, observation checklist, recordings etc). These records are then transferred to a central database of students results.
