Building Statistics

The Statistics relate to buildings for which building permits are issued by building boards and other government authorities. In general, they cover mainly buildings in urban areas which are under the control of building boards and other authorities. The collection of statistics on buildings constructed in rural villages is generally not feasible.

The statistics are compiled from data obtained from private building contractors, the Department of Works and the National Housing Corporation; an amalgamation of the previous Housing Commission in 1998.

Total Number of New Houses and Flats in PNG commenced and completed construction.
