Macrobrachium shrimp

In 2004-2005, SPC, in collaboration with the 'Services des affaires rurales Futuna' have carried out integrated farming trials of Machrobrachium lar in Taro ponds.

The main goal of the study was to investigate the potential for growing M. lar in monoculture and co-culture systems. This would enable to collect baseline data on growth of this species in these systems.

The overall aim of this activity is for subsistance or potential local market.
