The Education, Training and Human Development (ETHD) Division held its annual divisional planning retreat at the CETC Campus in Narere on 28 and 29 February 2012 to plan and discuss the divisional strategic directions for 2012.
Some of the key areas of discussion were to provide clarity on potential directions for ETHD programmes, responding to the SPCs independent review, and identifying joint activities and areas for resource sharing between programmes. Twelve participants from ETHD Division attended the retreat, which was co-ordinated by CETC Head Dr Lia Maka. |

Friday 16 March 2012, Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), Suva –
SPC Community Education Training Centre held its first advisory council meeting on 7–8 March at the CETC campus in Narere. The meeting focused on identifying development outcomes for the next five years for CETC. Ms Kathy Solomon, Director of the Vanuatu Rural Development Training Centre Association (VRDTCA), herself a CETC graduate, is the chair for the council, whose members are from the University of the South Pacific, Live & Learn Environmental Education, National Food & Nutrition Committee, Koronivia Research Station, the Pacific Association of Pacific Technical and Vocational Education and Training providers, and the Fiji National University. |

The Community Education Training Centre (CETC) and the Vanuatu Rural Development Training Centre Association (VRDTCA) held its third planning workshop for Distance and Flexible Learning (DFL) in Vanuatu from 23–27 January this year. The workshop, funded by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), follows two workshops that were held at the CETC Centre in Narere early last year to plan the logistics of the launch of the pilot programme. Ten participants attended the Vanuatu workshop to prepare a work plan for the DFL pilot at three rural training centres (RTCs) that VRDTCA has identified. |
