Capacity building workshop on business development services in the Pacific region PDF Print E-mail

The Commonwealth Secretariat Special Advisory Division and the SPC Community Education Training Centre (CETC), in collaboration with the private sector and government ministries looking after trade and business development, ran a five-day regional training workshop as the third phase of a business development services (BDS) capacity building programme for the Pacific region.

The annual seven-month Certificate in Applied Community Development Studies programme at the Community Education Training Centre (CETC) came to a grand end at the graduation ceremony on Wednesday 17 October, when 24 women from ten Pacific countries received their certificates. Rev Dr Gyaweng Kiki of the Pacific Theological College opened the ceremony with a challenge and a prayer.

Bus shelter help for Tuirara residents Print E-mail

A new bus shelter for Tuirara residents at Makoi, 8 Miles just outside Suva symbolises how communities can help donors direct much needed financial support. The newly-built bus shelter was initiated by the Community Education Training Centre of the Secretariat of the South Pacific Community and the Nasinu Town Council. Men from the community provided much needed labour. In opening the new shelter, the chief executive officer of Nasinu Town Council Simione Naikarua, has urged the ratepayers of Nasinu Town to pay their town rates in order to further initiate development in the community. Mr. Naikarua said such community development projects were very much appreciated by the council.
