Provide linkages with coconut networks including the Asia and Pacific Coconut Community (APCC), Bureau for the Development of Research on Tropical Perennial Oil Crops (BUROTROP), and International Coconut Genetic Resources Network (COGENT). 

SPC serve on the steering committee for COGENT and the Board of Directors and Programme Committee of BUROTROP to ensure the networks benefit the region.

Through COGENT an international germplasm collection is being established in Madang PNG. There are two coconut projects are underway in the region concerning coconut germplasm collection, characterization, utilization, coconut-based farming systems and value adding.

Coconut embryo culture work is underway in the Regional Germplasm Center for the transfer of coconut germplasm to the germplasm collection in PNG
