Information:

Michael joined SPC in 2011 as a Fisheries Development Officer (Economics) for the Nearshore Fisheries Development Section. He moved to another SPC Division (Statistics for Development) in late 2014.


Michael’s objective when working with the Nearshore Fisheries Development Section, was to develop sustainable nearshore fisheries in Pacific Island Countries and Territories to provide food security, livelihoods and economic growth. This incorporates economic evaluation, technical assistance, advice, and training.


In 2005, Michael worked in Vanuatu as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development where he provided training in the areas of agriculture and small business management, and facilitated the implementation of community based projects. Michael then returned Sydney in 2007 to work in Corporate Banking for Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd.


In 2009, Michael worked for the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs (Guyana) as a Marketing and Finance Specialist under the National Hinterland and Secure Livelihoods Programme. He provided assistance to Amerindian Communities in design, financing, and implementation of agricultural, apiculture, and aquaculture development projects for the purpose of introducing non-traditional income sources.


Michael holds a Bachelors degree in Agricultural Economics and a Masters of Economics.
