Information: Brad worked with the Coastal Fisheries Science and Management Section of SPC from 2012 to 2017 as a Fisheries Scientist (Climate change). Brad led activities for the Section’s AusAID-funded “Monitoring the vulnerability and adaptation of coastal fisheries to climate change” project. In this role he was responsible for the provision of capacity development and scientific advice to Pacific Island countries to better inform management on issues relating to the health and status of coastal fisheries resources and habitats, including coral reef monitoring, in-water finfish and invertebrate assessments and monitoring, market and creel survey programs, assessments of demographic parameters and population connectivity of fish, and ciguatera monitoring.

Brad holds a PhD from James Cook University in Townsville (2012) and a BSc (Hons) in Marine Biology and Zoology from the University of Queensland (2002). His doctoral work focused on population biology and connectivity of polynemid fishes in northern Australia. He continues to have a strong research focus on the population biology and connectivity of tropical fish, and how these may be affected by anthropogenic influences such as fishing, habitat degradation and climate change. Prior to joining the Coastal Fisheries Programme at SPC, Brad worked at the University of Queensland and as an environmental consultant where he was involved in environmental assessment and monitoring programmes across Queensland, New South Wales and the western Pacific.
