Information: Ian is from Cook Islands. He holds a Degree in Fisheries Science from Australian Maritime College.

Before joining SPC January 2010, Ian worked with the Ministry of Marine Resources of Cook Islands for 18 years. As Director of Inshore Fisheries and Aquaculture Division he was involved with providing advice and implementing various coastal fisheries activities. Ian was Secretary for Ministry of Marine Resources (Cook Islands) for the past six years. During these six years he rarely visited or was directly involved with coastal fishing projects in Cook Islands. A considerable amount of his time was spent in meeting rooms within and outside of Cook Islands. He is tasked with managing the work programme of the Coastal Fisheries Science and Management Section, to provide support and advice to governments, stakeholders, investment authorities and the private sector in planning and implementing coastal fisheries science and management activities, including community-based management, incorporating ecosystem approach to fisheries principles.
