Under the current population GIS project, which was funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development, two years of technical assistance were provided to train staff from participating countries, who would spend between 2 and 4 weeks with the program in Noumea, to design/build/refine national population databases underpinning their national population GIS systems.
