About CETC

This is a dynamic training institution and programme of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community and for the Pacific Women.It is committed to human resources, development and has excelled in training since 1963. The Community Education Training Centre (CETC) is based in Narere, Fiji Islands. An annual seven-month live-in training programme is conducted for up to 40 women community workers. The training focuses on various skills and knowledge in community development using non-formal, practical, participatory methods of learning.

 


Mission

The CETC contributes to the SPC Social Resources Division mission to:"Maximise the development potential of pacific island people in health, culture and information and enhance the empowerment of women and young people". It supports the corporate divisional goal of "empowered pacific island women and young people and strong cultural identities".

 


The objective of the CETC for its 2006-2008 strategic plan is to:


Increase and enhance the effectiveness and attributes of women in sustainable community development, leadership and practice." This is a follow-on of its current objective which is "to increase the effectiveness of women in community development work."
