The Heads of Planning and Statistics (HOPS) Meeting is held every three years, at which the heads of planning and statistics from across the Pacific region come together to discuss issues related to statistics development in the region. The forum is also the governance body overseeing regional statistics development in the region. The guiding strategic document – the Ten-Year Pacific Statistics Strategy (TYPSS) – runs from 2010 to 2020, and is now at the end of its second phase, and is moving into phase 3 from 2018 to 2020. TYPSS provides the regional framework that guides how technical partners, donors and Pacific Community (SPC) member countries and territories work together to support members in statistics development.
This year’s HOPS Meeting will be held at SPC Headquarters, in Noumea, New Caledonia, from 14 to 16 November 2017. It is expected that more than 50 participants will attend. This year’s meeting will discuss a number of regional and global statistics development items. The agenda is currently being developed and will be distributed to members shortly.
