SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, Dec. 4, 2008) - The final version of the People’s Charter will be presented to Fiji’s President Ratu Josefa Iloilo on December 15.
People’s Charter Architect John Samy told Fijilive that the National Council for Building a Better Fiji Secretariat would meet before the final copy was presented.
In the final NCBBF meeting, he said the Secretariat would present a countrywide report on the draft people’s charter on the response they received from the people.
"We have received a very good response from people through the form we have distributed," Samy said.
The Secretariat’s final meeting is on December 11 and 12.
Samy said they targeted two-thirds of the working group (approximately 350,000 forms distributed) and they have received a tremendous response.
He said he could not reveal the exact figures at the moment.
"The response has been very good and that’s why we are moving forward so confidently," Samy said.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner Northern’s Office revealed that officials of the National Council of Building a Better Fiji based in the North Division this week confirmed that more than 50,000 copies of response forms had been delivered to the TASS office in Suva.
The forms clearly state the support and the wish of the people on the draft Charter and, in the case, the three provinces of Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata.
