Nicol Cave Nicol joined SPC in December 2010. Before then she worked with the Academy for Educational Development's (AED) Communication for Change program and the Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication. Nicol has been working in the development sector for 15 years and for the past seven years has focused on program management and technical support to local implementing partners in 14 southern African countries in the design and formulation of strategies and tools for HIV prevention, health promotion and health communication. Alan Mamerto Garvez Alan graduated from the Cebu Institute of Medicine in the Philippines. He is a fellow of the Philippine College of Physicians and diplomate of the Philippine Specialty Board of Internal Medicine. Before joining SPC in November 2008, he was a consultant physician at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva, Fiji, and a honorary senior lecturer at the Fiji School of Medicine. He undertook his clinical attachment on HIV medicine in Australia and was awarded a WHO fellowship on antiretroviral therapy in Thailand in 2007. He obtained his postgraduate diplomas in population studies and demography, development and governance studies at the University of the South Pacific.
