There is guidance on depedence and limits, advice for pregnant and breast-feeding women and for minors. Data on drinking of alcohol in the region is also provided.

Port Moresby, PNG, 15 February 2011—Papua New Guinea needs and deserves a safe and secure environment to enable further development, the National newspaper reports. This was the underlying message from the deputy prime minister and minister for works and transport Sam Abal on the first day of the Alcohol Abuse in PNG symposium held at PNGIPA hall in Port Moresby on February 14.

Geneva, Switzerland, 14 February 2011—The harmful consumption of alcohol kills an estimated 2.5 million people across the world every year, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in a report governments to implement measures to prevent drinking habits that damage health and cause other social problems.

Nuku'alofa, Tonga, 13 November 2010—In a tough new stance against alcohol consumption, Tonga's new liquor legislation comes into force this summer introducing liquor licences and breath testing in an effort to reduce public drunkenness and to change irresponsible drinking attitudes.
