Pacific News on HIV & other STIs

PASA, the Pacific AIDS Alert Bulletin, is the magazine/newsletter of the HIV & STI Section of SPC.

Published three times a year, its English distribution list is made up of more than 1000 people from all around the region, and 500 copies in French are also sent to the French Pacific Territories of New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Wallis and Futuna.

PASA of course covers news directly relating to the activities of the HIV & STI Section, but it also reports on and shares information on general issues linked to HIV and other STIs that are shaping the region.

Topics included in PASA are rich and varied ranging from World AIDS Day festivities, new behaviour change communication training, HIV and the law, STI treatment in the Pacific, or stigma and discrimination in the gay, bisexual, lesbian and transgender communities.

Readership of PASA is therefore equally varied, including partners and donors, governments, NGOs and faith based organizations. It is a reminder that HIV and other STIs are more than just health issues, and are directly related to politics, economics, national security, religion and culture.

Contributions to PASA are very much welcome. If you have a story idea, or would like to write a story for PASA, please contact Nicole Gooch, HIV & STI Communications Officer, SPC ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

Stories should be about 500 words long and will be edited, so first time writers are encouraged to send contributions. Photos will be credited to the photographer and should be a minimum of 400 kb.
