Setting up a 12 volt PC as a server PDF Print E-mail

This will be an article about setting a reasonably low cost server using a 12 volts VIA board, using one of their fanless boards, ie this thing could run just about anywhere. For the moment I have just this picture as I wanted to show this to a mailing list I am on, but I will add to this shortly.

The above photo is the case opened showing 2 x SATA 80Gb hard disks, connected to the on board RAID controller, these drives are mirrored, the CDROM drive is for scale :)  I have even jammed a second network card into this one using the single PCI slot to set this up as a firewall, with 2 x NICS, one being the on board NIC.
