New Library Staff - Verenaisi Bavadra

The SPC library is pleased to announce the arrival of our newest staff member, Verenaisi Bavadra.  She is based at SPC Suva.
"I’m excited to be joining the Secretariat of the Pacific Community library team. I look forward to the challenges of marketing and delivering library services in a more dynamic manner to the staff of the SPC and the regional communites. Hopefully, my experiences, skills and knowledge of 27 years working in public, schools, academic, government departments and law libraries will contribute in some way or another in supporting the mandate of the SPC Libraries in the region."

Verenaisi Bavadra Information Assistant +679.337.0733
  • Provides support in the management of the Suva Main Library and all Suva branches.

Fisheries Digital Library

The SPC Library and the Marine Resources Division have developed a full text Digital Library which is now available online. This Digital Library will enable users to gain online access to electronic versions (in PDF format) of more than 4300 fisheries and aquaculture-related documents, in French and in English, produced by, for, or in collaboration with SPC. The Digital Library is full text searchable. This new tool was developed for the fisheries administrations of the Pacific Islands countries and territories to improve their access to comprehensive, updated, and high quality information. To start using the Digital Library, click here. For more information on the Digital Library, please click here.

Internship

In collaboration with the Dumbea Médiathèque, the SPC library has agreed to host an intern for training.  We are lucky to have Stephanie Watt for seven weeks.  Most importantly she is being trained in the usage of our cataloguing system, Koha, which will soon be used throughout New Caledonia.
