Name Proportion of one year olds fully immunized against EPI target diseases (3 doses diptheria, tetanus, toxoid & pertussis)
Definition Proportion of 1 year olds children immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, toxoid & pertussis is the percentage of children under one year of age who have received one dose of the three vaccines.
Calculation/Formula (Number of children completing three dose schedule / Number of children in target group) x 100
Unit of Measure %
Range (eg Age) < 1 year old
Assumptions Assumes vaccination schedule immunises before one year
Limitations Due to the changes in the type of vaccines, and variations of vaccines between countries, plus the different ages at which vaccines are given to children, this data may not be consistent with the indicator definitions, or comparable between countries.
Purpose/Rationale Immunization coverage estimates are used to monitor immunization services, to guide disease eradication and elimination efforts, and are a good indicator of health system performance (WHO).
