SCTB13

Colleagues,

With SCTB 13 now only a few short weeks away, herewith further information on various aspects of the meeting. Over 60 participants have now signalled their intention to participate. Intending participants who have not yet provided travel details or indicated accomodation preferences are urged to do so. Sufficient funding will now be available to support one participant from all Pacific Island countries, this situation most recently assisted by a generous contribution from New Zealand, to supplement an earlier one from the Republic of Korea.

The plenary meeting, from Wednesday July 5th to Wednesday July 12th, will be held in the main SPC Conference Room, the Jacques Iekawe Room. Various audiovisual aids to assist presentations, including computer projection will be available. Interpretation will be provided for all plenary sessions. Contributed working papers will be posted as they are received on the SCTB webpage (http://www.spc.int/oceanfish), along with meeting details, and a progressively updated list of participants. Participants are encouraged to send electronic copies of working papers, for posting on the webpage prior to the meeting. If it is not possible to send a completed version, submission of a title with authors would still assist.

Attention is drawn to the usual requirement for presentation of national fishery reports, an outline for which can be found on the webpage. SPC/OFP can assist with the provision and compilation of national fishery statistics if needed.

Arrangements for the preparatory working groups prior to the main meeting, which are open to participation by all thos interested, are confirmed as below. All meetings will take place in the small conference room, adjacent ot the main conference room.

a) The special working group sesion on Data Collection Forms will meet on Monday July 3rd, at 0900 hrs, to review the SPC/FFA logsheets. Régis Etaix-Bonnin, Miki Ogura and Al Coan will lead the reviews of the longline, pole-and-line and purse seine logsheets respectively.

b) The oceanographic database users group will meet on Tuesday July 4th as per the recent invitation posted by John Sibert.

c) The bigeye modelling group would meet on Tuesday afternoon at 1330 hrs.

The final annotated agenda for the meeting will be sent in the final anouncement at the end of this week.
