Bycatch Mitigation Information System (BMIS)
Friday, 29 April 2011 11:07

The BMIS is a resource for fisheries managers, scientists, fishers and the general public. It is the result of a Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) project to centralise and make readily available, information on the mitigation and management of bycatch in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (WCPO).  The database is a reference and educational tool that supports the Commission's responsibilities with regard to the sustainable management of non-target, or bycatch, species in WCPO fisheries targeting highly migratory species, including tuna and billfish.
