Information: Peter obtained a BSc in marine biology from Sydney University, New South Wales, Australia in 1978. After further professional education in computer programming, he commenced working for an IT consultancy firm in Sydney in late 1979. During the early-mid 1980s, he was employed as Development Manager responsible for a range of software products developed by the company, and completed post-graduate studies in Information Technology at Macquarie University, Sydney in 1985. In 1999, he completed an MBA (Technology Management) conducted through Deakin University, Melbourne, Victoria. Peter joined the OFP/SPC in 1987 and was initially tasked with establishing the OFP databases which have been fundamental for the stock assessment work conducted by the OFP over the past three decades. He now leads a team of more than 20 people in the OFP data management section which has the added responsibility as the contracted managers of the WCPFC scientific data. Other than database-related work and interacting with colleagues from Pacific Island member countries, he has a keen interest in various tuna fishery work areas, particularly by-catch issues but more recently the WCPFC work on improving data from the Indonesian, Philippines and Vietnam tuna fisheries and the evolution of E-Reporting and E-Monitoring in tuna fisheries. He is married to Andrea, and has three beautiful daughters (like their mum), Adeline, Coralie and Margaux. His leisure interests include surfing, sailing, swimming and fishing.
