| The Public
Health Surveillance and Communicable Diseases Control Section has run the last session of a series of two separate
week-long training workshops in public health surveillance and related
use of Epi Info 6 software. The first workshop of that advanced level
series (second week) was conducted in November 1999 (for French speaking
PICTs), and the last one was held in Apia, Samoa, from 7 to 11 May
2001. The Apia workshop gathered participants from American Samoa,
Cook Islands, Niue, Samoa, Tokelau and Tonga. These training sessions
are meant to serve the Pacific Public Health Surveillance Network (PPHSN)
objective of arriving at a critical mass of health professionals with
common abilities for public health surveillance.
