Strategy 2 - Development of relevant computer applications Strategy 3 - Adaptation of field epidemiology and public health surveillance training programmes to local and regional needs Strategy 4 - Promoting the use of e-mail, and opening the network to new clients, new services and other networks Strategy 5 - Publication Strategy 5 - Publication of health information bulletins, technical studies, applied research findings, monographs, information on resources available in the network, etc. A monograph on public health surveillance in the Pacific was published by SPC in 1998. It sets the background of PPHSN's birth. In July 1998, SPC started the publication of Inform'Action, the PPHSN bulletin. Since then, twenty issues have been published, with contributions from many PPHSN health professionals. PPHSN-CB has also supported the Pacific Health Dialog, the Journal of Community Health and Clinical Medicine in the Pacific, e.g. with contributions regarding surveillance activities carried out in the strategic framework of the PPHSN. As well, one entire issue on Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases in the Pacific was funded by WHO, and another one on Telehealth (in both French and English), by SPC. Following November 1999 meeting on HIV, AIDS, STI epidemiological surveillance for Pacific Island countries, WHO published in 2000 the Guidelines for HIV/AIDS, STI and Behavioural Risk Factors Surveillance for the Pacific Island Countries and Areas. All these publications as well as the reports of all the meetings and conferences mentioned above are available through the PPHSN-CB Focal Point and on this website (>>for more information, go to the publications pages). PPHSN and Distance Education in Health websites, although services provided to the region, are also part of the publication strategy: especially the current PPHSN website that gives access to all PPHSN publications.
