EpiNet - Multi-disciplinary national/territorial outbreak response teams
Introduction | Meetings | National EpiNet Teams | Reports | IHR revision Introduction Public health response to epidemics has to happen in the field: it’s therefore the primary responsibility of Ministries and Departments of Health. In the Pacific Islands, adequate resources aren’t, unfortunately yet, always available at the right time and an efficient response often requires additional support from the region and/or from international agencies. In this context, a consistent and coordinated response through the PPHSN is considered a most important component of the Network. In every Pacific Island country and territory, health authorities have nominated National EpiNet Teams, which are meant to network and coordinate with the PPHSN regional pool of resources to form EpiNet. Besides coordinated surveillance and response field activities, the role of EpiNet is also to establish and maintain relevant PPHSN target-diseases surveillance and response protocols, including all technical and resource-related aspects of all operations.
