South Pacific epidemiological and health information services (SPEHIS) were provided by the programme (previously called PHS&CDC section) in the format of annual reports (since 1974) and monthly reports (since 1990). You can consult the reports (from 1988 to 1996) on this website.
With the creation of the Pacific Public Health Surveillance Network (PPHSN) in 1996 and the role our programme played in the development of the network, the routine SPEHIS data collection was stopped.
More recently, we have developed a regional Epidemic Intelligence system that comprises an indicator-based surveillance component and an Event-based surveillance component. Through this system, we produce weekly and ad hoc real-time maps of epidemic and emerging disease alerts in the Pacific. You can consult the web-based interactive map at: www.spc.int/phd/epidemics/
