National/Territorial EpiNet Teams       List of EpiNet Teams / TORs / Meetings

The response arm of the network, consisting of multi-disciplinary national/territorial outbreak response teams, the EpiNet teams. Besides coordinated surveillance and response field activities, the role of EpiNet is also to establish and maintain relevant PPHSN target-diseases surveillance and response protocols, including all technical and resource-related aspects of all operations.

Proposed Terms of Reference

Proposed generic terms of reference were presented at the Regional EpiNet Workshop held in Suva in September 2003. They can serve as an exemple for countries/territories who would like to clarify the role of the EpiNet teams.

They were published in Inform'ACTION 16 (pdf, 65 KB)


Meetings

A series of EpiNet meetings took place from 2001 to 2004. They are listed below. Summaries of these meetings were published in Inform'ACTION 11, 15 and 18. CD-Roms of the proceedings of the meetings were also sent to all EpiNet teams. Copies can be obtained from the PPHSN-CB Focal Point (Email: phs.cdc@spc.int).
 

Second Regional EpiNet Workshop "PPHSN Preparedness for Influenza and other
     Potential Threats like Dengue and SARS", co-organised by SPC and WHO in Noumea,
     New Caledonia, 7-11 June 2004
 

First Regional EpiNet Workshop "Building on the SARS Experience - Preparing PPHSN
     for Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases" co-organised by SPC & WHO, 1-5
     September 2003, Suva,  Fiji Islands

 

3 EpiNet sub-regional workshops co-organised by SPC & WHO, 2001-2002

Between December 2001 and March 2002, SPC and WHO jointly funded and organised three EpiNet sub-regional workshops in order to further develop the outbreak alert and response capacities of PPHSN established five years ago. The outputs of the workshops were 6 PPHSN target disease-specific draft generic protocols, to be further developed and wrapped up (ongoing).
