PPAPD aims to promote practical actions by Pacific Parliamentarians in advocacy for population and development issues in the Pacific region thereby contributing to the attainment of the PPAPD vision of improving the living standards, security and well being of peoples in the Pacific.

PPAPD is supported by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC); United Nations Populations Fund (UNFPA); Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (PIFS); United Nations Development Fund (UNDP-Pacific Centre); and the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (AFPPD).

In Asia-Pacific, 'Poverty Still Has a Woman's Face'

22 FEBRUARY 2010 MANILA (IPS) ---- Women and poverty still share an uncomfortable spot on the development matrix of countries across Asia-Pacific that are struggling to end deprivation, according to the newly launched third joint report of the United Nations and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
