More than forty-six delegates from 21 Pacific island countries & territories
and metropolitan countries and regional organisations gathered in Nadi, Fiji, from
2 to 5 March 1998 to attend the second PPPO
meeting.
The PPPO focuses on improving the capacity of Pacific nations to comply with
global quarantine and trade standards. It is composed of representatives of all
island members of the Pacific community, Australia and New Zealand. It links the
region to international organisations such as the World Trade Organization, and
to the Food and Agriculture Organization’s Interim Commission for
Phytosanitary Measures (ICPM) and Asia Pacific Plant Protection Commission (APPPC).
