Four Books on Collection and Taxonomy of Insects and other groups.
We provide here the full texts of four manuals on the collection and taxonomy of major invertebrate and fungal groups that include plant pests. These manuals have been generously supplied at no charge by SAFRINET, the South African loop of Bionet.

These manuals are in PDF format for which you need Adobe Acrobat software to read them. If you do not have this software you can download it free of charge from the Adobe web site: [click here to connect to the Adobe site].

The version of these manuals provided here is suitable for online viewing, or viewing on your computer screen after downloading. Another version, with the illustrations in a higher resolution suitable for printing to paper, is available on CD from South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP). If you would like such a CD send an e-mail to Sam Sesega.

These manuals have introductory sections on the biology & classification of, and then focus on techniques such as collection and preservation of specimens. As such they offer much of interest to plant protection and quarantine staff. Click on a title to view a manual on-line. Click on a download box to download the manual to your computer.
