These work instruction templates for diagnosing avian influenza was developed by the Animal
Health and Production team of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, Land
Resources Division. These templates are in line with specific objectives of the
Pacific Regional Influenza Pandemic Preparedness Project (PRIPPP), which
include preparing countries for responding to emerging infectious diseases such
as avian influenza. This document serves as baseline information and
format for Pacific Island countries and territories (PICTs) in developing their
own laboratory standard operating procedures. It is designed for use in
selecting diagnostic procedures that are appropriate for the available
in-country resources.
