ON THE MOVEMENT OF THE INDEXES
Headline CPI
The CPI shows 3.3% in September quarter 2006, compared to 0.8% in June quarter
of the same year. The CPI headline index also shows an annual change of 5.3%
from 1.4% over 12 months from September quarter 2005 to September quarter
2006.
The quarterly change in the CPI for all
towns shows:

Considering the quarterly change in
the CPI by major expenditure group shows:

Council Charges, Fuel and Power shows 4.5%, |

Household Equipment and Operations shows 0.9% |

Miscellaneous Group shows -1.7%.

Underlying CPI
The underlying rate of inflation shows -1.1% in September quarter 2006 compared
to 0.8% in June quarter of the same year. The underlying CPI also recorded 0.4%
over 12 months from September quarter 2005 to September quarter 2006.
