National Government

The information shown here were results of previous elections. Until 1998 election, females were not allowed to compete for parliament seats in the government. The 1998 election marked a new era in the history of Tokelau for the first time women secured a seats in the government. Not that they have to compete with male candidates, but seats were allocated for them to occupy. The table below reflects the last three elections.

Senior Government Officials

All senior government positions are held by males. The only senior position ever held by a female was the Director of Education and that was from 1990 - 1998. From there after, males took over all senior positions.
