..... to the Cook Islands Statistics Office (CISO) Internet website.
As Government Statistician for the Cook Islands, it is a great pleasure to welcome you to this web-site.
First, I would like to thank government departments, agencies, institutions and business communities who have contributed in one way or another by providing data to the CISO. Without this support, it would not be possible to present a wide range of information for our users in this website.
The increasing demand for timely and reliable statistics posses great challenge to the Cook Islands Statistics Office. This challenge was further compounded when the Office was down-sized as a result of the Government's restructuring policy during the recent past years.
The establishment of the CISO Internet was seen as a very positive reponse to the need of timely statistical information. In this respect, I would like to take this opportunity to gratefully acknowledge the support and assistance given by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) through the Pacific Regional Information System (PRISM) project, in assisting us with the development of this web-site.
Organized information has always been important in understanding problems, in aiding intelligent decision making, and in providing a means of learning from our experience. Such information was used to design, evaluate and improve specific programs and policies. Even more important, it served and continues to serve as a measure of the evolution of our society, economy, and environment.
CISO is constantly expanding its efforts to make more and more of this information available through its Web site. Whether you are looking for statistical information on a particular topic or results of our latest censuses and surveys, I am sure you will find your visit interesting and informative.
If the information you are looking for is not included in this website, please do not hesitate to send your query to the Statistics Office.
