Cook Islands Final Result
The 2006 Population Census was conducted in conformity with provisions of the Statistics Act 1966,
warrant issued by the Queens Representative and the Cook Islands Constitution order for the establishment
of enumeration districts for the Population Census.
This is a five-yearly stock-take of the people of the Cook Islands and their housing,
which the Cook Islands Statistics Office (CISO) normally undertake.
Consumer Price Index
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for December quarter 2009 was 118.7, up by 4.3% over December quarter 2008 and it continued to increase at a slower rate of 0.2% over September quarter this year.
Population Estimates & Vital Statistics
Resident population is currently estimated at 12,000 for December quarter 2009. Total population is estimated to be 24,400 showing an increase of 1.7% when compared to the previous quarter.
Total visitor arrivals for December quarter 2009 (25,419) decreased by 18.3% when compared to the previous quarter (31,114) but increased by 3.7% when compared to the same quarter in 2008.... read
The December quarter 2009 shows that Gross Turnover was $139.6 million for all industries in the Cook Islands.
Total lending for December quarter 2009 has increased by 33.6% over the previous quarter.
The balance of trade December 2009 quarter stood at $82.5 million. In comparison this has deteriorated by $7.8 million over the previous quarter.
Total value of building approvals in December quarter 2009 decreased by 35.3% when compared to September quarter 2009.
