Aircraft statistics covers regular domestic and international operations by the local airlines. Statistics on the operations of local airlines are obtained from the monthly returns submitted by them.

Regular Operation of Local Airlines

  • International Flights
  • In Quarter 1 2011, our local airlines carried a total of 172,823 international passengers and generated 565,111 thousand of revenue passenger kilometers. A paying passenger flying one kilometer creates one revenue passenger kilometer. In terms of capacity, the airlines had 1,735,335 thousand of available seat kilometers. One seat (empty or filled) flying one kilometer is an available seat kilometer.

    The passenger load factor, Revenue Passenger Kilometer divided by Capacity, decreased by 4 percentage points from 36.0 per cent in Quarter 4 2010 to 32.0 per cent in the reporting period.

  • Domestic Flights

  • In Quarter 1 2011, our local airlines carried a total of 55,096 passengers on domestic flights and generated 9,721 thousand of revenue passenger kilometers. In terms of capacity, the airlines had 20,916 thousand of available seat kilometers.

    The passenger load factor, Revenue Passenger Kilometer divided by Capacity, decreased by 2 percentage points from 48.0 per cent in Quarter 4 2010 to 46.0 per cent in the reporting period.

    Local Airlines: Revenue Tonne Kilometer Performed

  • International Flights
  • In Quarter 1 2011, our local airlines carried a total of 82,712 thousand tonne kilometer of revenue earning passenger, freight and mail. Total airline load capacity was 149,231 thousand tonne kilometer of available space.

    The capacity load factor, Revenue Tonne Kilometer Performed divided by Capacity, decreased by 8 percentage points from 63.0 per cent in Quarter 4 2010 to 55.0 per cent in the reporting period.

  • Domestic Flights
  • In Quarter 1 2011, our local airlines carried a total of 717 thousand tonne kilometer of revenue earning passenger, freight and mail. Total airline load capacity was 2,295 thousand tonne kilometer of available space.

    The capacity load factor, Revenue Tonne Kilometer Performed divided by Capacity, decreased by 6 percentage points from 37.0 per cent in Quarter 4 2010 to 31.0 per cent in the reporting period.
