Hotels and Tourist Accommodation
Quarter 2 2009[p]

• Rooms Available recorded decrease of 3,849 (0.4%) in Licensed Hotels, Resorts and Lodging Houses for 2nd Quarter, 2009 when compared to the same period in 2008.

• Total Room Nights sold decreased by 15.2% for second quarter. Occupancy rate recorded a fall of 6.7 percentage points to 38.4% when compared to 45.1% for Quarter 2, 2008

• Both Bed Spaces Available and Bed Sold (guest nights) decreased by 0.1% and 11.3%

• Bed Occupancy decreased by 4.2 percentage points compared to Quarter 2, 2008

• Takings from Accommodation, Sales of Food, Liquor, Telephone and Other Miscellaneous Charges decreased by 0.7% to 118.3 million compared to second quarter, 2008.

• Paid Employment in the Hotel Sector increased by 8.1% compared to Quarter 2, 2008.
