COUNTER-PART WEBMASTER TRAINED

Ms Arrora Depaune, who recently joined the Bureau has been designated the task of a counter-part webmaster. The Bureau recognizes the importance of maintaining an up-to-date Internet website. Having a counter-part webmaster ensures the Bureau’s site to be effectively maintained during the absence of the current webmaster (Mr Lindsay Thoma) – a practice which all NSOs in the region have been encouraged to do.

Training of the webmaster and his counter-part in basic Internet website design principles and effective maintenance of web pages has been the main focus of this mission. With the introduction and training of the use of an FTP software, the Bureau will now be able to have timely out puts in its website – an area that has not been possible over the last few years.

Visits to other departments have also been made. These visits were made as part of PRISM’s outreach programme to other departments to foster closer working relations with the Bureau of Statistics in regards to sharing and accessing of statistical information across a wider national statistical system. Where departments do not own a website, they were asked if they would like their outputs get disseminated in the Bureau’s site.

The visits were made together with counter parts from the Bureau – Mr. Lindsay, current webmaster and, Ms Arrora Depaune - counter-part webmaster.
