Knowing the Pacific Way.

The Regional Media Centre's flagship television program, The Pacific Way, derived its name from a word coined by Fiji's former statesman, Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara to describe the region's ceremonial and revered form of negotiations, discussions and dialogue. With this meaningful phrase, the Pacific Way television program tries to provide an insightful look into developments in the Pacific that deal with and relate to, the culture, heritage and traditions of its people while integrating modernity with a globalised approach to the various changes. The show follows a magazine style TV program that captures the essence of life in the Pacific while at the same time highlighting the various developments taking place. It also emphasises the need to improve the quality and standards of living in order to ensure that with the many differences made, the lives of Pacific islanders will be much better in all respects. The show is entertaining, informative and educational and a program that documents history as we continue to evolve in our vast Pacific [ocean]. The programmes are distributed to 20 television stations around the region. The Pacific Way television program continues to give people a voice while allowing them to tell their own stories and share their experiences on how they see themselves in a fast changing region.
