The TV/Video Section is the largest unit of the Centre and produces a weekly half-hour programme called The Pacific Way. Stories cover a wide range of issues like economic developments, health, education, forestry, agriculture, fisheries, ICT developments in the Pacific, transport and economic development issees, HIV/AIDS, gender, youth and culture. Although technical at times, the stories are told simply to educate, inform, create awareness as well as entertain. Television and video production refers to the process upon which stories, films, and documentaries are compiled before they are featured on the Pacific Way. The process can be time consuming depending on which type of video is to be produced. Documentaries can take 3 months to one year to complete particularly if the crew is to travel extensively during the production period. The production team is usually made up of the director, the reporter and the cameraman. The section is equipped with a television production studio, lighting facilities and high quality audio recording equipment, High Definition (HD) cameras and Apple Macintosh hardware and software for editing. |
