In Fiji, the most common fishing grounds management tool used is the tabu area. A tabu area is where all fishing is banned. A tabu areas aims to create safe space for fish to thrive, reproduce and hopefully, restock the tabu area, and in time, restock areas outside the tabu. But Do Tabu Areas Work? In short, some do, some don’t. In this radio show Waisea Naisilisili from Fiji's Wildlife Conservation Society and Tuimavela Hemo, Chairman of Navakavu MPA explores what works and what doesn't work.
