Location
Fiji Islands, Fiji
Fiji

Loss and damage in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) has been documented through research initiatives across a wide range of disciplines, including sustainability science, environmental studies, natural resource management, marine ecosystems, public health, anthropology, sociology, gender studies, cultural heritage, and others. The Pacific Community (SPC) is co-hosting a research symposium with Pacific Action for Climate Transitions (PACT), a collaboration between Fiji National University (FNU) and Monash University.

The symposium will bring together researchers to explore central themes in debates, dialogues, and negotiations on loss and damage. Focusing on SIDS, the conference will target policymakers, project managers, climate negotiators, technicians, civil society organizations, and communities, providing them with evidence-based data and analysis to support loss and damage planning processes and requests for access to financing under multilateral climate mechanisms.
