Meeting Aim and Approaches

The Heads of Planning and Statistics (HOPS) brings together the most senior officials responsible for the production and use of statistics at national levels around the Pacific region. HOPS provides a regular institutional interface between National Statistics Offices (NSOs), senior national planning and policy analysts, development partners and SPC to build and sustain collaborative relationships which are crucial to the successful implementation of the Strategic Framework for Pacific Statistics Strategy. This is a very important gathering for Pacific statisticians, planners, technical partners and donors given the increasing demand for accurate and timely Pacific statistics; the need for more evidence-base development decision making, SDG indicators reporting data requirements and improved regional coordination among technical partners.

This first meeting of HOPS since 2017 will focus on a range of strategic priorities for the region.
