Early Warning Systems (EWS), Emergency Response Planning (ERP) and Field Simulation Exercises

Queens Rd, Nadi, Fiji
Nalagi Hotel, Nadi

The Safe Agricultural Trade Facilitation is organising this workshop/field activities through the Economic Integration in the Pacific (SAFE Pacific) project based at the SPC Land Resources Division (LRD) and funded by the European Union (EU), in close collaboration with the Biosecurity Authority of Fiji (BAF) and the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF). The SAFE Pacific project is part of the umbrella EU Pacific Regional Integration Support Programme (PRISE) under which two components, namely 1.2 “Sanitary and phytosanitary services are improved” and 2.3 “Strengthen the competitiveness of sustainable agricultural value chains” are led by SPC.

The main objective of the event is to provide capacity building to BAF staff, stakeholders, and participants from the region’s National Plant Protection Organizations (NPPOs) on early warning systems (EWS), emergency response plan (ERP) and sub-document development, and the contents of an ERP, as well as to conduct hands-on/practical exercises on rolling out an emergency response (simulation of a pest outbreak).
