The Brisban Accord Group (BAG) in collaboration with the Pacific Civil Registrars Network (PCRN), the National Archives of New Zealand, the Pacific Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (PARBICA), the National archives of Fiji, and the Ministry of Justice of Fiji, has organised a south-to-South study exchange programme, focussed on strengthening the capacity of civil registration officials of selected countries Pacific Islands countries in the management of civil registration records and documents, including the principles of release and archival of individual civil registration records and documents. The South-to-South exchange programme, which is sponsored by the government of New Zealand will involve civil registration officials of Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Vanuatu and Samoa and will be undertaken on 1-3 October 2018.
During this time participants will visit the civil registry and national archives of Fiji to observe different practices on storage and archival of records and participate in a workshop, which will discuss key principles for record management, including best practices on the release and archiving of individual records.
