The objectives of the Item Writing training for teachers and assessment officers in the North Pacific and Nauru include:
- Capacity Building: Enhance the skills of teachers and assessment officers in item writing for literacy and numeracy assessments.
- Understanding Assessment Principles: Providing a solid foundation in the principles of educational assessment, including validity, reliability, and fairness.
- Developing High-Quality Items: Teaching participants how to create effective and high-quality test items that accurately measure students' knowledge and skills.
- Standardization: Ensure consistency and alignment with learning outcomes in their respective curriculum.
- Avoiding Common Pitfalls: Identifying and avoiding common mistakes in item writing, such as ambiguity, bias, and overly complex language.
