This learning event on school leadership is targeted at education ministry officials whose expertise and key responsibilities include the implementation of their respective national school leadership standards and the monitoring of their school principals' performance.
The training aims to build awareness and common understanding around the key features of the Regional School Leadership Standards, and their relevance to their national developments on school leadership. Participants will be asked to identify the specific areas of school leadership they need help in and will also be oriented with the various appraisal instruments and capabilities of the Strategy for Monitoring and Improving Leadership Effectiveness (SMILE).
Only the relevant education officials from Nauru and Niue have been invited to participate. For Nauru, this workshop is a follow-up to the 2021 school leadership training they participated in.
The team envisages that by the end of this three-day training, participants will acquire adequate knowledge to develop or improve their own appraisal system to evaluate the effectiveness of their school leaders and will use SMILE for the monitoring and reporting of their school leaders' performances.
