Regional Education Data Virtual Workshop 2020

Location
Virtual

Education systems in the Pacific are required to produce timely and quality education statistics. These statistics are critical for the calculation of outcome indicators for the Pacific Regional Education Framework (PacREF) and the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). This workshop aims to build the capacity of Pacific education officials to use the tools and methodologies of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS). UIS is the primary source of statistical data on SDG4 and the technical guidance on SDG indicator calculations, questionnaire design and data analysis.

The virtual training will refresh on the collection, analysis and dissemination of the relevant education statistics required by national, regional and international education stakeholders. This work aligns with EQAP's objective of increasing the use of information for policy development and implementation. It will also boost the region's efforts to improve their respective Education Management Information Systems. Most Pacific island countries now manage their own EMIS system. However, a few countries are still unable to produce accessible, complete or timely education statistics for reporting to UIS. Significant improvement was noted since the last training in 2019.
